Small Query Regarding Passport Stamp confusion for ILR

Post by bholo » Sun Sep 03, 2017 11:52 pm

I have a small query and I will try my level best to explain it as clearly as i can. It might not be a problem as my lawyer said but just want to confirm and take 2nd opinion so here we go

I was landing to London via mareseille today. Two flights were departing to london with a difference of 2 hours. I arrived 3 hours earlier to airport(As usual) and went through passport control who gave me a stamp and then proceed to gate. When i went to gate they said that u have arrived really early as we are still serving old flight. I said that i cant go back now as i have cleared passport control. The officer of passport control came and said dont worry let me cancel this stamp and go and sit in outside waiting area. He said that After an hoour come back when we will do passport control for next london flight and i will give you a new stamp. I said fine.

Now the guy was quite careless he put a single cross on a different stamp which i got last month when i left for salzburg from london. I saw him doing it and told him to stop. WHen i told hiim he realised it and said do not worry as it is a single cross and is insignifcant. He said that a stamp is crossed only as long as i do a proper double cross and sign it which i have done for your marseille stamp and it is considered cancelled. Your salzburg stamp is still valid. I was like whhy dont u add a note that u crossed salzburg old stamp wrongly. He said that he is srure salzburg stamp will still be considered valid and told me to wait for next flight boarding. I didnt argued with him and just went to waiting area.

Anyway after an hour i got a new stamp on marseille exit which is valid. All happy days and i landed to london etc.

Now i have two questions

a- If during ILR someone sees marseille stamp crossed with signature and then another marseille stamp on same day, will they be doubtful. Do i need to mention it in cover letter? Can they refuse my ILR for this reason ? Is it actually a problem.

b- If they see a single cross on salzburg(no sign but just a cross line), will they be doubtful and question.Do i need to mention it in cover letter? Can they refuse my ILR for this reason ? Is it actually a problem.

Laywer says that dont put it in cover letter as it creates unnecesary doubts and u anyway are much less than 180 day threshold so they arent going to check in first place most likely. He said that for your own safety, just take boarding pass of both marseille flight and the last salzburg flight(last month) and provide an exaplantion in case they ask you as you will be in premium same day appointment. He iss assuring that they cant refuse on basis of this issue as it is not actually an issue and everything is fine.

A second opinion will really help me. I am going to keep both boarding pass in a seepraste additonal docuemnts file which i am going to take anyway.

My question is that do i need to do anything more? Do i need to worry?

you dont need to worry.
Flight records are checked and kept on record using airline records as well.. so not just the stamps on your passports.
Thats how they know which date u left the UK even without exit stamps.
