Obtaining certified copy of passport from HO

Good evening,
I was doing some research here regarding how to get a cerfified copy of passport while its with HO, however I could not find a definite answer or people didn't update their posts anymore, therefore I am asking here :

Was anyone successful to actually get it and if so, could you please let me know how long did it take?

I get a different responses from different HO people - some said they don't provide it at all, some say they do but it takes forever to get it so I'm just wondering if anyone else has the same issues. We have been trying to get it since June but till today there was no progress at all.
Any advice would be greatly apprecciated.
