Which form to register child as British Citizen?

Post by britandkiwiinoz » Tue Sep 12, 2017 3:47 am

Hi,

I'm struggling to know which form to use to register my child as a British Citizen. She was born in Australia to a British father and New Zealand mother, neither who were permanent residents at time of birth - which means she is currently not an automatic citizen by birth.

I went through form S2 but it looks as though section 2 requires my child to be living in the UK for the past 3 years? Is this correct?

If I should be using MN! - what should I state as her nationality in section 1.9?

Thank you for your help!

Ben

When was she born?
Was her father British otherwise than by descent when she was born?
Was her father married to her mother?

- She was born in 2016
- Father British by birth (Born in UK to British parents)
- Father and mother in de facto relationship (proof by NZ family visa for Australia) but not married (engaged)

Thanks

Child is automatically British.

Child cannot register, but may apply for a British passport directly.

If her NZ mother was born or naturalised in New Zealand- then the child is also a New Zealand citizen by descent.
