Tier 4 Working condition with Deferral

Post by spdatta13mar » Wed Sep 13, 2017 4:25 pm

Hi,

I am currently on tier 4 visa pursuing my Masters course. My course ends on 15th Sep 2017 but my visa is valid till 15th Jan 2018. I have got a job starting from 18th Sep (Full time).

However I have got a defferal in a dissertation component which I need to clear by Dec 2017.

Can you please let me know under this circumstance can I work full time (with deferral) or am allowed to work part time (20hrs).

20 hours max until you have completely finished your course.

If you don't know what is your new extended course end date, ask your university.

To echo what Sah said, some Universities consider resits 'out of term time' (I know many who do this) to support their decision to not issue a CAS for re-sits. What it means is that often working is full time during this period. It's all University-led and ask away.

That's not relevant here. OP already has enough leave to do their resits, so in effect term-time is just extended.

No, you misunderstand my point. My point is that different Universities will constitute rules for working full-time during re-sit periods. I am aware of some that will only issue letters after the re-sits are done (these are also the Universities who are more relaxed with issuing CAS's in-country for re-sits), and most who will issue letters when the CAS end date is hit. It's for the sponsor to decide.

Specifically whether a student can work full-time or part-time is not a sponsor's concern, only whether it is term-time or not. I don't know what "letters" you are talking about.
