Hello

My friend is a UK citizen who wishes to bring his foreign wife to the UK. He has only been self-employed for six months so only the earnings from the first couple of months of his new business are relevant to the application. Prior to starting the business, he was not employed in the UK during the 2016 - 2017 financial year and will therefore need to rely on salaried income from the 2015 - 2016 financial year in order to meet the 18,600 figure.

On the face of it, he meets the criteria but it just seems odd that he is principally relying on a previous job that has no relation to his current circumstances. What do you think?
