Documents needed for Tier 2 extension

Post by r_dashing » Tue Sep 19, 2017 11:26 am

Hi all,

I am about to submit an Tier 2 extension but Im still a little unsure about what documents I need. I have both an Australian and New Zealand passport. When I go through the application online it has under mandatory documents it has my Australian passport and passport photos. But then under other documents it has both my Australian and New Zealand passports to 'to prove the level of English language required'. Online it allows me to tick or untick these 'other documents' but Ive discovered even if I don't tick them once I hit save they are automatically ticked for me...which makes me think i need both of those passports submitted. On the other hand at the end of the document it says I don't need to prove I speak English three times for three different reasons (because I already proved it, because Im an Australian citizen, and Im an NZ citizen). So which is it? Do I need to submit the NZ passport with my application or not?

Thanks in advance for any replies

I personally think u dont need to submit it. In particular for extension application, u dont need to prove english anyway.
However, there is no harm in sending it. Worse come and u dont send it, and they need it, i guess they can request it from u.

Hi, thanks for your advice. I think at this point I won't send the NZ passport in, unless any one else comments that they think I need to. For one thing I'm flying domestically tomorrow and its the only ID I have for the flight since I don't have a biometric residence permit yet. Not sure what I'd do if I only had the one passport! Cancel the flight and take a train I guess.

Apparently RyanAir require you to have a passport even for domestic flights, although it says different things on different parts of their website, so who knows. In fact as an non-eu citizen they require me to present my documents as check in 'to ensure compliance with immigration authorities', which sounds ridiculous to me for a domestic flight but thats what they say...

Confront them. As a non-eu, i have always traveled within uk on a driving licence. Passport in general, and BRP in particular are too expensive and valuable to be taken out of home, when not required essentially. I have seen people crying to get the replacement brp which can take forever.
