Publishing a book on Tier 2?

Perhaps a strange question... I'm employed as a Lecturer by a University. A major U.K. publisher has offered a book contract to publish my academic research. I won't be getting any royalties as I primarily want this book for career purposes.

Any potential issues regarding Tier2? I'm aware self-employment isn't allowed, but this isn't regular self employment, there's no payment, and I'm an academic, not a self employed author...
