Registration of a child under 18 as a British citizen - Born in UK

Post by abin001 » Thu Sep 21, 2017 2:48 pm

Hi,

Section 5 - Referees and Identity

I spoken to my local Surgery GP and health visitor for referee but they are hesitate to do that. And my child is only 1 year old, so no teacher can act as referee and I do no know any minister of religion.

In these case who can I contact. Me And my family personally knew some UK registered nurses working in hospitals.
They can do referee for my child?

Thanks

The guidance says that at least one of your referees must have interacted with your child in a professional capacity—have your nurse friends ever provided medical care for your child? Are there any nurses at your GP surgery who would be willing to sign the form? Or a pharmacist?

In previous threads about this issue, there have been people who claimed that the Home Office is pretty lenient about referees on applications for young children (NB: all the linked threads are 3-7 years old). It's no guarantee that they'll be lenient in your particular case, but if you can't find anyone else, and if your RN friends are willing to act as referees, it's probably fine.

Registration under section 1(3) of the Act is an entitlement and cannot be refused if the requirements under the Act are met. In other words- apply with whatever references you have should be fine. The Home Office cannot legally insist on particular reference requirements since these are not contained in the Act.
This is not intended to be legal or professional advice in any jurisdiction.
