Hello,
I would appreciate if anyone could please advise on my scenario.
I am wanting to apply for my child's British passport. The birth certificate which I have, a typed one, which my parents have kept since I was a baby, has all the details in the CORRECT spelling. However, this document has been laminated, which the passport office does not accept.
So I ordered a new copy from the General Register Office and received a handwritten copy of my birth cert but it comes with a spelling mistake on my father's forename; an extra letter which does not exist. I contacted the GRO and they referred me to the Local Register Office.
Long story short, I ordered yet another birth cert copy from the Local Register Office and got the same handwritten one with the same spelling mistake. The Local Register Office says if there is a mistake it can be corrected if I provide evidence. How long will this take?
So two copies with a mistake and one typed cert with no mistakes at all.
Where do I go from here? Any advise appreciated so that I can get on with this passport application!
Thanks.
