Almost got my passport back

After two weeks waiting and chasing my MP and everything they have finally sent my passport back, Or so I am to believe as they have given me a reference number and say the documents were posted by royal mail signed for but i haven't received them.

anyone got any idea on how long they take from sending documents to actually receiving them? and how do they send the documents? 1st class?

They said it was posted on Thursday and today being Saturday still no post, checked the reference number and it is not showing any update.

I desperately need it to come on Monday but my confidence is low as they seem to drag their feet at every opportunity.

Ps, I am British and it is my British passport i need back which i thought would have been easy but obviously not
