I am Tier 2 General worker and had a new born a couple of weeks ago.
We are planning to visit our home country India in a month and have following queries:
1. I have appointment for India passport next week but while looking at Tier 2 dependent requirements for a minor I saw that it is possible to apply for the visa without the passport.
This will really help me as I can get both the passport and the visa in parallel and hence save time.you have never had a passport (for example, because you were born in the UK)
However, I would like to know does it have any downsides of applying for visa without the passport? As in chances of approval or chance of delay in processing?
2. For proof of maintenance funds, I do not understand why the following are mentioned in 2 separate bullet points in my form. Any idea if just statement from my bank would be enough?

£630.00 in cash savings for 90 consecutive days
