Would my salary be considered on pro-rata basis. Since I need to show around (5000 * 80) 4 Lakhs for eight months I have earned around 3.4 Lakhs, If they consider it on pro-rata basis I would be able to claim points.

No but nice try as income covers 12 months in all cases. After all we could all get a high paying job with plenty of overtime for two months and pro-rata it for the remaining 10 months. Prorata concept applies to income from different categories e.g. GBP and PKR. You will have to rely on points from other criteria on the selection grid.

Kayalami,

Just to expand on this question.

An under 28 friend of mine was working at graduate level work in the UK on a WHV for 2 years. He left his job in the UK in August last year at the end of his WHV, at that stage not earning sufficent income for under 28 HSMP purposes (22K sterling).

He travelled for 3 weeks in Asia and got back to OZ and started work in September 2003.

His starting salary in this new job is the equivalent of 28K sterling per year. He has been working in Australia now working for 6 or 7 months, depending on how you count the months.

Based on the guidance notes we were thinking that as he has now spent a majority of the past 12 months in Australia (6.5 months OZ, 3 weeks travelling, 5 months in the UK), we could pro-rata his income up to claim $28K per year for the purpose of the under 28 HSMP application.

Are there any holes in our thinking, especially with a 3 week "gap" of not working/holidaying?

Cheers
Vayu/Samran
