ID proof for a new born

Post by tier_2_applicant » Fri Oct 13, 2017 5:15 pm

Hello,

My wife and I are naturalised British citizens, currently living in India.
I have to apply for my newborn son's British passport from India.
The list of supporting document states that I need to submit 3 ID proofs of my son, of which at least one should have his photo.
Unfortunately I don't have any ID proofs for my son. I only have his birth certificate and even that doesn't have a photo.
Could someone please advise what will be acceptable as proof of ID?

Thanks.

The child probably isn't an Indian citizen. The parents are both naturalised British- which means they're not Indian and India no longer grants automatic citizenship by birth on its territory.

Others with more specific experience may wish to comment, but despite the form/notes, they may not really expect a newborn to have another photo based proof of ID.

It would be recommended to get a British consular birth certificate. This can be used to apply for a British passport.

Thanks for your responses baddy and JAJ.

I submitted the application yeterday. They didn't ask for any ID proof. Birth Certificate was sufficient.
