ILR - Sponsored Person - Benefit

Post by cindy1234 » Mon Oct 16, 2017 5:18 pm

Hi,

I am holding a ILR since 2015 and applied successfully for ILR to my two children this year. I signed the sponsorship form for both of them, and within the form there is a statement:

"I hereby undertake that, if the sponsored person named above is granted leave to enter the UK on a
permanent basis, I shall be responsible for his/her maintenance, accommodation and care in the UK for a
period of five years from the date of their entry to the UK. I am further aware that the sponsored individual
will have no recourse to public funds for five years from the date of their entry to the UK
."

Currently I would like to apply for Universal credit. Will it be OK?

Could you please clarify if the public fund of Universal Credit is for me or for my children?

Thanks and Regards

If your children hold ILR they are no longer under Immigration control and can claim any benefits your level of household income qualifies them for.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Thanks Casa for your helpful reply.

I could understand that I do not need to consider the sogned sponsorship forms for my children, when applying for public findings.

Do appreciate!
