PR Card and Claiming Benefits.

Post by Paulina9612 » Sun Oct 22, 2017 3:52 pm

Good afternoon to everyone! :)

I am a little concerned and confused about my chances of being successful when applying for PR Card.
I am a 21 year old Polish national who arrived in the UK in 2006. I have been in full time education between 2006 and 2013. I had my first child in 2013. Between 2013 and 2014 I was on income support (derived rights from parents). In 2014 I began part time work up until late 2016. I became pregnant and started claiming income support ( passed the HRT ) from 2017 up until now. I have lived with my parents from 2006 until 2015. From 2015 up until now I am living alone with my children. My parents did not apply for PR as they believe they are regular tax payers therefore do not need the card. What are my chances of receiving the PR card despite currently claiming income support due to looking after my baby? I am concerned that I will be refused because I am claiming Income support. I am looking forward to some advice as I am horribly concerned. Thanks X

Accessing benefits is not a reason on its own to refuse an application for a Permanent Residence. EEA nationals are able to claim benefits. You don't have to worry.

From what you say, it seems that you obtained PR in 2011 as the family member of an EU worker, and have not lost PR since then. The only complication is that they might possibly have failed to comply with the terms of the Workers' Registration Scheme.
