Brazilian baby born in UK travelling abroad

Post by marcelobp » Mon Oct 23, 2017 1:57 pm

Dear all,

I am Italian and my wife Brazilian. We are living in UK since 2016. My wife came with Family Permit visa and has now a Residence Card.

We are going to Brazil in February/2018 and I have an issue about my daughter's situation:

- Our daughter was born in January/2017 and since then I have been trying to register her in the Italian consulate in order to claim a Italian passport for her. The matter is that there is a long queue to register and another queue to issue the passport. I am afraid we won't have the passport before January/2018.

- The second option is to apply for a EEA residence card. But again, it can take about 6 months and maybe we won't have this card before January/2018.

Can you please give some advice about what do in this situation? Is there any visa I can apply temporarily just in order to my daughter come back to UK then I have enough time to apply for the residence card?

I do appreciate any of your help.

Kind regards,
Marcelo

An EEA residence card on its own is not enough to travel as far as I understand. Child also needs a passport.

Is there an intention to register the child as a Brazilian citizen? If so, then as I understand it, child would need a Brazilian passport to enter and leave Brazil even if an Italian passport is also held. Confirm with the Brazilian Embassy/Consulate.
