just arrived, work without GNIB?

Post by gfunk » Tue Oct 24, 2017 12:24 pm

Hey guys
I got here last week..

I have a work holiday visa but on the back of it, it says two things that seem contradicting

-The holder has permission to work without an employment permit to support his/her stay in ireland

-This document is only valid when presented with a GNIB registration card

My appointment for GNIB card is late december... does that mean I cant actually work until I've been to this appointment?

Cheers

I just called "FLAC" legal advice who said that companies will still employ you without your GNIB card provided you have an appointment but other companies won't employ you until you have the card, it depends on the employer, its a small risk to them but they know it takes ages to get an appointment.
