First Passport Application SLA

Hi

I just got my letter through inviting me for a ceremony but I stupidly did not apply for my first passport via JCAP.

Does anyone know how long approximately it takes to get your first passport when you have NOT made a JCAP and if the process can be expedited by paying a premium?

I checked the passport timelines thread which suggests the passport application takes between 6 and 10 days but it is not clear if they have applied via JCAP to get it that quickly.

I don't believe there is a premium service for a first passport, because this often includes an identity interview. In my case (not JCAP) I applied beginning of December 2016, using online, it took 7 workdays from submission of paperwork, including interview. It's probably not a busy time just now and you may be lucky.

I applied for BC through RM post and applied for my passport through RM post after BC was granted.

I sent my passport application on Thursday the 26th of October and I had it in my hands on Friday the 3rd of November. I didn't have an interview.

I applied separately through Post Office - check and send service - once i was naturalised (didn't know about JCAP when i applied).
It took a bit more than 2 weeks (see below).
Note that i have been called for an interview but once there, i have been told that it was a mistake as i shouldn't have been called for an interview.
