Hello All,
I've been searching around this site for a while doing some research for my upcoming ILR appointment, it's a great resource. I am an Australian national on a UK Ancestry Visa applying for ILR under the SET O Form.
I wonder if anyone could be so kind to help me with one of the questions. I'm looking for any advice or clarification on Question 6.1 for my particular case: 'What day did you first enter the UK? This refers to the date you entered the UK at the beginning of the period of stay on which this application is based'.
My case is a little complicated. I first received an Ancestry VISA valid from 28.09.09 - 28.09.14. I then arrived in the UK on 29.09.09 for a short trip of a few weeks before returning to Australia.
I then returned a year later on 13.10.10 to live and work in the UK. I've made frequent trips outside the UK since then as I'm a professional musician and run my own music business but I haven't spent more than 180 days outside of the UK since returning in Oct 2010. My absences since Oct 2010 usually around 100 days a year.
I renewed my VISA before the last one ran out on 23.09.14 and this current ancestry visa is valid until 23.09.2014.
So, what would you suggest I write as the date I first entered the UK? Is it 29.09.09 when I first enacted that Ancestry Visa? Or is it 13.10.10 as I had nearly a year absence from the UK after first entering in 2009? And do I then need to add every trip out of the UK from that date til my ILR application? That's a lot of entries.
Question 6.3 asks for evidence and supporting documents for absences but I don't think this applies to Ancestry Visa holders. Is that correct? All the same, I'll state my absences are for professional engagements and attending music conferences to support my UK music business as well as holidays.
Finally, question 7.13 asks 'How long have you lived in the UK for?' This is a bit more straightforward, I feel I should just date this back to 13.10.2010?
Any suggestions would be very helpful and highly appreciated, thank you!
Kind Regards,
Joel
