Switch from Tier 1 General to Tier 1 Entrepreneur

Please need your expertise on if I could switch from Tier 1 general to Tier 1 Entrepreneur.

Although I got Tier 1 General visa in June 2010 and extended in May 2013 but only started working in UK from Apr 2014 onwards and till date I am on a continuous residence. Initially started working in local IT firm from Apr 2014 till Oct 2015 and then left to do contracting on my own company from Nov 2015 till to-date. To complete 5 year I still need 1 year more since I started late.

Is it possible for me to switch from Tier 1 general to Tier 1 Entrepreneur. Your expert comments will be valuable to me. Is there any other best possible option. Thanks.

If you started your business on or after 6 April 2015, you cannot switch to Tier 1E route. Also time spent under Tier 1 General does NOT count towards the 5 years under Tier 1 Entrepreneur for ILR. Additionally, by switching to another category from Tier 1 General, you will NOT avoid being investigated for tax issues/amendments made during Tier 1 general period. HO will still check your claims during Tier 1 general period when apply for ILR, even if you you are not applying under Tier 1 General.
