Date of ILR eligibility

Hi Guys,

A friend of mine got his Tier 1 on 3 May 2013. He later switch to Tier 2 in 2016. 2 questions please:

1. Can he apply for ILR in 2018?

2. If he can apply for ILR in 2018 and given that people can apply for ILR 28 days in advance, is he eligible to apply for ILR on 5th Apr '18 hence making use of a slightly lower fee and salary guide (35k min) assuming that the new ILR fees and rules kick in on the 6th Apr '18?

Yes, he can combine T1 and T2 and apply next year 28 days within 3rd May 2018

What do you mean by "slightly lower fee" ! The salary has to be £35K. Also , if the SOC code require more than £35 it will have to match to the SOC code.

Home Office normally increase visa fees across board on the 6th of April every year, don't they? It is currently around 2900. Last year it was around 2500.

Who knows next year it could be over 3000. Do you think, given his dates, can he make use of this years ILR fee?

Yes, he can. Fees go up 6th April so he could book premium appointment 45 days before and he'll not need to pay new few even he has appointment after 6th April.

Yes you can for sure. No they will not. One of my friends did the same last year.
