Maximum stay outside the country for ILR Application

Post by amitfalana » Sat Nov 25, 2017 9:47 am

Hi,
My wife has a Tier 2 General visa and we are expecting an ILR in a couple of years. I wish to understand the details around the clause wherein there is a restriction of 180 days of maximum stay outside the UK.
1. Is this clause valid for the main application or for the dependents also?
2. How is a day counted? If I spend even a hour in the UK and rest 23 hours outside the UK. Is that counted as 1 day or 0 days? Need to understand this from the prespective of travelling on a day trips to Continental Europe.

Regards,
Amit

Need to understand this from the prespective of travelling on a day trips to Continental Europe. The day of departure and the day of re-entry aren't included in the absence calculations.
