Help to fill the AN form

Post by Boblove » Fri Nov 17, 2017 9:51 pm

Hello everyone,

I hope someone could help me. I'm divorced and I'm applying for my British Citizenship.
On the application form item no. 1.38, they want to know more details about my ex-wife (date of birth and city where she was born). I don't know these details, only the country where she came from...
what should write? and do I need to enclosed my Decree Nisi together with the application form?

Also I need help what to write on the reason for the ending the marriage like a short sentence? At that time we have lived apart for a continuous period of at least two years.

I really like to thank you all for your help.

Give all the details you know, the decree is not necessary. Write"not known" where you don't know.
As for the reason just answer concisely, like you explained it in your post.

Analysing more carefully is it really necessary to fill the details of the previous wife?
I’m not married at present....
Correct me if I’m wrong!!! I think this field from 1.38 to 1.44 are just to be filled if my status were married again?!
Thanks

Per the AN Guide:
"1.40 - 1.47 If you were previously married or in a civil partnership, you must complete
your previous husband’s, wife’s or civil partner’s details."

This doesn't say "only if you re-married". So I still suggest you disclose all details you know. As such a divorce would not count against you, not disclosing it might.

AN Application form

Post by Boblove » Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:12 am

Good morning,

I'm divorce and I would like some help on section 1 question 1.43!
In the form, they I asking the place for ending the marriage.
I have got the decree Nisi in hands.
Is the place they are asking here is the city where I have the divorce, in this case London, or the name of the Court?
I'm a bit confused !!!!

Many thanks

Robson

Kindly keep all your citizenship question in ONE topic (this one) and refrain from posting Form AN questions in the EEA/EU sub forum.

You are only divorced once you have the Decree Absolute, which comes a few weeks after the Decree Nisi. Until then, you are not officially divorced.
