180 days out of the country confusion

Post by JohnOhn » Mon Dec 04, 2017 12:14 pm

I'm slightly confused by the amount of time our T1E visa lets us be out of the country as some posts imply that it is 180 days in TOTAL during our 5 year period and others imply that we can be out of the country for 180 days in each 12-month period during our 5-year period.

I have always assumed that we get to be out of the country for 180 days every rolling 12 month period.

For example, I've been out of the country 240 days in total during my T1E visa for the last 4 years and 7 months and never out of the country more than 90 days in any 12-month rolling period. Is that okay then?

Don't worry. It's 180+ days in 12 months.

Yes, it should be ok. Remember the rolling period is counted backwards from your application date.
