Dual National Entering UK with other passport

Hi all,

I'm a dual national with my UK tier 4 visa under my American passport. I am now preparing to do an internship in France in mid Jan but will still formally and technically remain student status in the UK and legally hold my UK tier 4 visa (there is no conflict here don't worry about this).

The issue is when I submit my American passport to the French embassy to get the French visa, am I allowed to leave the UK and come back to the UK with my Taiwanese passport (Taiwanese don't need visas to enter the UK)? It's not the passport where my student visa under, so I guess I'll be entering as a visitor. Are there any legal consequences to doing this? Will entering as a visitor override my status as a student?

The general principle is that someone cannot have two forms of leave for the UK at the same time. See https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... eave-ecb22

The simplest solution is to apply for the French visa with your Taiwanese passport. Or apply for the French visa with your US passport after your travel, not before.
