Is there any specific reason you prefer "Certificate of Abode" than the British passport?Sivasr wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2017 12:44 pmHi All,
I am sure someone can assist me with my query here.
I have ILR in the UK and expecting a baby in this month end and I'm confused whether go for UK passport or Certificate of Abode (Certificate of Entitlement)? Please let me know pro and cons?
My another question is, can certificate of Abode be applied from the outside UK if the baby born in UK for an ILR parent. As we are planning to take the baby out of the country after birth before getting certificate abode in the UK as the time of processing this is much more.
Thanks in advance
Then you can go for Right of Abode certificate. You should have the baby born in the UK as you are on ILR.
If the child is born outside the UK then it has to be applied outside the UK.
Yes, you can apply outside the UK as well. It will cost more though. But if you apply from the UK it might take upto 6 months as per the document.Sivasr wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2017 10:21 amHi makky86,
Our baby going to be born in the UK, however, we are planning to take the baby out of the country before getting Certificate of Entitlement in the UK. Hence, we will be applying for a certificate of entitlement from the outside UK. Please let me know if this is okay or should we apply only from inside the UK? Thanks
