Successful Tier 2 visa with dependents

Post by rtrtrt1234567 » Sun Dec 10, 2017 8:04 pm

Hello everyone,
I'd like to share my experience in the application of Tier 2 visa along with 2 dependents (wife and daughter)
We tried to keep it simple and relevant

My timeline
This was my first time applying for Tier 2 visa
I opted for non priority service
1. Category applying under (General / ICT / other) General Tier 2 shortage occupation (Main + 2 dependents)
2. Country of application:Oman
3. City of Visa Application Centre:Muscat
4. Date of application24/11/2017
5. Date of submission of documents (if different from 3 above):26/11/2017
6. Date Entry Clearance valid from: 24/1/2018
7. Duration for Entry Clearance: 30 days
8. Date passport received: 10/12/2017

Documents that I submitted with the application (original and copies)
For myself and dependents
1. Offer letter
2. COS copy
3. Police clearance for me and my wife from the countries we've resided in the last 10 years for over 12 months (It was a requirement for my job category)
4. GMC licence certificate (licence to practice medicine in UK)
5. A brief cover letter explaining where I'd be working in UK and that I'd be responsible for the maintenance of my dependents
6. 3 months bank statement with required funds
7. Booking confirmation of the hospital (where I'll be working) accommodation for 1 month
8. IHS confirmation
9. Marriage certificate
10. Birth certificates (main + dependents)
11. Old/expired passports
I was not required to submit TB test and UKVI IELTS as I am a Trinidadian national

When we went to VFS muscat all our applications were put in one file and they gave me a list to tick off the original documents that we submitted.
Our passports were sent to UKVI in Abu Dhabi.
We didn't receive any emails to update us with the application. We received an email from IHS regarding the partial refund 12 days after submission of documents. The money was refunded the very next day.
This morning we received a call, sms and email from VFS to come and collect our passports.
I am glad it went smooth.
