Previous benefit claim effect Spouse Visa Application?

Post by Emilyd97 » Sun Dec 10, 2017 8:30 pm

Long story short married to a Non EU spouse since 2015

Moved back to the uk March 2017 for the birth of our baby.

I was advised to claim income support, upon claiming income support i read to tick single on my application for benefits as i was living alone and was financially responsible in the uk for myself and my child. (However i was married) i was advised by a worker on the phone line as itll put me in the right criteria to receive lone parent income support. Plus i do not have my husbands name and our marriage is recognized in the uk but not yet registered. So i thought ticking married would cause some confusion.

Now i will start work in march to do the 6 months of working earning 18,600 annually and will of course beforehand cancel all my previous benefits.

will this effect my application for my husbands spouse visa come September when we apply. do they look at previous benefits or only benefits claiming at the time?

If they do look at the benefits will they think the fact i ticked single as a reason to refuse our application?
Thank you.
