British Citizenship for children born abroad

Post by Regillo » Mon Dec 11, 2017 6:27 am

Hi,

Kindly help me out with this ambiguous issue please;

I am a British Citizen by naturalisation from ILR(Long stay), my wife has ILR(Long stay too), my youngest child born in the uk British citizen by registering too but my two eldest children 15 and 12 years are on FL(M) which they had applying together with my wife before she obtained ILR.
The issue is can I apply to register my 15 & 12 years as Britizen Citizens owing that they have Further leave to Remain and have lived in the UK for 5 years now. And if possible under what category.

Your swift response will be most highly appreciated. Thank you

Children born abroad are expected to have ILR before getting registered. As your wife and you have ILR, your children should be able to apply for ILR as well.

They can then be registered as British citizens providing they meet the MN1 requirements. In case of the 15 year old, s/he would also be expected to have been resident in the UK for at least two years before the date of application.
