Urgent advice needed regarding BRP replacement visa

Post by Msan » Tue Dec 12, 2017 3:55 am

Hi all,

My BRP was recently stolen and I have to travel to Spain for an important meeting next Monday. A replacement BRP will not arrive on time and premium visa centers are booked out all through December. It seems like the best option is to apply for a single entry BRP replacement visa while in Spain. However, I have some questions on details of the application:

1. I have reported my BRP online as stolen, but I have not filed a police report yet. If I have to apply for the visa in Spain, would a police report filed in the UK work, or do I have to file a report in Spain? As I read that the BRP replacement visa is for BRP lost/stolen outside of the UK, would my application be rejected?

2. Would my passport be taken by the visa center for the whole process? I have a series of travels booked for Christmas, and would like to be able to materialize those if possible.

3. What is the processing time for the replacement visa?

Thank you very much in advance!
