passport lost with visa stamp but BRP is with me

hi everyone. hope im posting in the right place.
my wife lost her bangladeshi passport with dependent visa stamp in UK. which she applied from bangladesh
when she came to uk and got her BRP.
which is with us and not lost.
now her extension after 2 and half years is due in may 2018.
she got the new passport from her embassy. do we have to inform HO about the lost passport or having BRP will do and acceptable when we renew her dependent visa.
