Schengen Visa and Bank Statements? Please help, first ever holiday!

Post by Lastdesertflower » Wed Dec 20, 2017 7:28 pm

Hi there,
With regards to applying for a Schengen Visa (to Germany if that helps), I'm confused as to how to prove financial substinence.

I will be staying for 5 days so I will need £250 in my bank account (£50 per day), I understand that much. So will my last 3 bank statements have to show I have £250 remaining at the end of each month? Or will they only look at the very last balance?

Also, my travel documents are in my maiden name but my bank account is in my married name. Will this be a problem? I have my marriage certificate to hand and everything. It's just I have a BRP and I heard horror stories of name changes taking months, and we really wanna go in March, but will obviously postpone if need be.

This is mine and my husband's first ever holiday so we're really excited and would appreciate any advice! Thank you!

What is your country of citizenship? Immigration status in UK. That information will help in getting visa. For 5 days holidays and 2 persons, 50 pounds per day is insufficient I suppose. Do they have any fixed amount to show?

Non-EU person travelling with British/Irish spouse? Schengen visa

Post by Lastdesertflower » Thu Dec 21, 2017 3:42 pm

Hello!

I previously posted about what the German authorities will need to see regarding my bank statements, but I've just seen that if I was travelling with my EU spouse, they probably won't even need that much information from me.

My husband was born in the UK but holds an Irish passport through his lineage. We will of course be travelling together.

Will he be classed as an EU citizen, therefore resulting in my having to submit fewer documents to be granted a visa?

Sorry I know this might sound like a silly question but there's that whole matter of EEA nationals only being classed as so if they've exercised their treaty rights bonanza, so just wanted to make sure

Oh and he has never lived in Ireland, if that makes a difference!

You should apply for a visa for a family member of a eu citizen if your husband accompany you and you don't own a article 10 residence card.
No bank statements needed.
Check other at the schengen application form and write family member EU.
