Tier 2 G to ILR - Absences when not employed

Post by ravi_ei » Tue Dec 26, 2017 1:25 am

Hi All,

As ILR application via 5 year route through Tier 2 General requires to provide Employer letter to show all the absences in last 5 years, what proof would be required if the absence is in the duration when you are not employed (between end of previous employment and start of new employment)?

I moved to UK on Tier 2 ICT (employer A) in Nov 2010 and applied for Tier 2 General(employer B) in August 2013. My joining date with employer B was in November 2013. So when my employment ended with employer A, there was a week's gap to join employer B. I traveled to my home country in this one week gap. Now the problem is that employer A or B cant put this in their letters as I was not employed for that week.

I will be eligible for ILR next year in July. How should I describe this one week trip to my home country in my application. Please share your thoughts.

Regards
Ravi

That is fine. You still put the absense in the form and provide concise cover letter the reason of absense along with tickets (if you have)

Thanks Makky. One more question related to this. When I switched from Tier 2 ICT(employer A) to Tier 2 General(employer B) in August 2013 for the next 2.5 months(Aug 2013 to Oct 2013), I was still working for the employer A to serve the notice period. So when I apply for ILR in July 2013, Do I need to get a letter from employer A to confirm my absences for the time I was serving the notice period(Aug 2013 to Oct 2013)?
