Joined financia requirement

Post by Tonymorris » Wed Dec 27, 2017 8:29 am

Hi folks,

I’ve conducted a brief search and it’s obvious that meeting the FR is a big hurdle for young people ( to include myself within the category ).

My question is seeking further clarification on meeting it, on the gov website it quites “You and your partner must have a combined income of at least £18,600 a year if:”
To me that reads both of our income combined needs to meet the £18,600, is this correct?

Some sub-text:- We have been in a relationship for nearly 3 years, living together for the same amount of time, we have spent approx 8 months living in australia, 2 yrs in uk. Come Mid-Jan her holiday visa which she’s currently on in uk to be with me expires and will be returning to australia( Aus Citizen ).

Can my income from my job which solely doesn’t meet the requirement be combined after currency exchange with her australia-based job? I appreciate she will also need to be in that position for 6 months which it states somewhere in the detailed guidance.

Many thanks for your assistance,

Tony

Can you confirm how long your partner has currently been in the UK on her visitor visa or are you referring to a Tier 5 YMS visa :?:

No. Only UK earnings will qualify.

Many thanks for your assistance,

Tony
Edit: Also bear in mind that more than 6 months apart will break the 2 year continuity of co-habitation in a relationship 'akin to marriage', mandatory to qualify for a UPV.
12. SET5.12 Assessing whether the relationship has subsisted for two years
"Periods apart for up to six months would be acceptable for good reasons, such as work commitments, or looking after a relative as long as:
it was not possible for the other partner to accompany; and
the applicant can show evidence that the relationship continued throughout that period, for example, by visits, letters, logged phone calls
."

Thank you for your reply,

She was initially on a 2 year working holiday visa when we met, then when that expired i moved to aus on a working holiday visa to stay together, 8 months after than she is now in the uk on a “holiday” for which she doesn’t need a visa and lasts up to 6 months :)

So with myself not meeting the financial requirement in the uk, as it stands from what i’ve said above it would be unlikely to apply for the visa in current circumstances?

Thank you,

Tony

If you haven't yet done so, it would be prudent to read through the SET-5 info I posted for you regarding requirements for an Unmarried Partner visa. 2 years co-habitation alone isn't sufficient to prove a relationship 'akin to marriage' The ECO will expect to see evidence such as joint tenancy, shared finances (joint bank account, bills etc).
