My daughter wants to get an Irish passport. She is a US Citizen and her father was born in Ireland. So this shouldn’t be a problem, or at least I thought so. It seems, however, that the application for an Irish passport requires a “civil marriage certificate” but her birth mother was never legally married to my daughters Irish father. (Her natural US mother died when my daughter was young and I married her Irish father, legally, after that and raised her as my daughter).
Can she get an Irish passport if she has an Irish born father, whose name is on her birth certicate, but there is no civil marriage certificate?
