Tier 2 Dependent visa renewal

I am on tier 2 General visa and expiring in Dec 2018 and I will apply for extension in Nov. My dependent's visa is expiring in May 2018. Kindly suggest How to proceed if I apply for dependent visa renewal in May then for how long they will get the visa ( 6 months or 2.5 years).

Please suggest the best possibility as I dont want to pay for the dependent visa twice.

Unfortunately PBS dependent visa cannot overlap main applicant. If you apply for dependents in May 2018 their new visa validity will be same as your i.e. December 2018

Dependant's expiry of leave cannot be later than main applicant's.
