I am a British citizen living in the UK.
My partner has just qualified as a medical doctor in Brazil and is starting his first post as a family doctor in the next month. He qualified from a Brazilian university.
The loose plan was:
- he would work in Brazil for a time to get experience and save some cash
- we would marry during this time so he could come to UK on a spouse visa and have work permit
- he would undertake the English language tests and PLAB tests, and hopefully then take a foundation medical job in the NHS
However, he is asking me know if he's required to undertake the PLAB exams if he can get 'exempted person' status (https://www.gmc-uk.org/doctors/registra ... rights.asp and https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1983/54/part/III ).
My understanding is, if we marry and he settles in UK he can apply for 'exempted person' status from GMC and they will consider his medical qualifications and experience and they may grant him GMC registration. However, this cannot be guaranteed, so it may be best to just sit the PLEB?
Many thanks
