Referee: What kind of engineer counts as a referee of "professional standing"

Quick question regarding the acceptable referee for naturalisation application.
I know someone from my previous job who's a software engineer. He's got a Master degree but I don't think he's a member of any Engineering society or something similar. Can he be my referee of "professional standing"?

Engineer as in 'Civil Engineer' or 'Mechanical Engineer' etc.

Not on the list but if they are Directors of a Ltd company, then they would be accepted. I think some members have used them, but think they have been Directors of Ltd company etc.

Is there an official link to the list? The PDF guides on link below don't seem to include it and the ones I've found on third-party site don't mention any specific engineering disciplines.

Can students with ILR apply for citizenship?

Quick question. I got my ILR last year and left my job afterwards to go back to university for a PhD. Can I apply for citizenship as a student?

Yes. There is no employment requirement for naturalisation. So long as you meet the ILR and other (absences, good character, future intentions, etc) requirements, you can apply for naturalisation.

Father's name in AN application

Really stupid question. Should the Father's Name in section 1.24 of AN application be the full name or just the first name?

Filling in AN application as student

I got my ILR last year and since then have gone back to university. I'm not sure how to fill in sections 1.45 to 1.49 as a student.

I do have a scholarship from university so does that make me their employee? Should I fill in tax office reference?

Suggest you enter "student" under occupation and leave the rest blank - if you have a previous PAYE reference (from P60) then I would quote that.

AN Application: evidence of lawful residence

The AN application says passports can be includes as evidence of 5 year lawful residence in the UK. But I've always had BRPs and there are no UK visas in my passport. Is it still enough to submit my passport? What are the other acceptable documents?

I've been searching about this a bit and looks like current and expired passports should be enough as they're only interested in the entry stamps and not the visas. I hope my understanding of this is right. Some suggest providing P60s as well.
