UK ILR applications - accepted B1 level Cambridge English exams

Post by brucey101 » Wed Jan 10, 2018 9:04 pm

My wife is applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.

She has an IELTS certificate with the following details:
• Centre number: PHOO1
• DATE: 05/04/2014
• Provider: British Council / Cambridge English Language Assessment
• IELTS ACADEMIC
• Test results: Listening 7.5, reading 6.5, writing, 7.0, speaking 7.0, overall band score 7.0
• Test form report number: 14PH000448######## (#=removed for security purposes)
• Note on certificate: It is recommended that the candidate’s language ability as indicated in this Test Report Form be re-assessed after two years from the date of the test.

The Home Office guidance states that you can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if
it’s on the current list of recognised tests.

This certificate was used for 2 previous Limited to Remain Applications, which were approved on 05 March 2013 and 23 September 2015.

The UK Visas & Immigration approved Secure English Language Tests and Test Centre List, dated 13 November 2017, lists the following details:
• Provider: IELTS SELT Consortium
• IDP or BC: BC
• Test centre number: PH001
• Name of test centre: BC Philippines
• Address: Cebu Parklane International Hotel, Corner Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Escario Street, Cebu City, Philippines
• Country: Philippines
• Test centre type: Permanent
• Exam & Facet: IELTS (all facets) Life Skills

Please can I ask if her IELTS certificate is recognised on the UK Visas & Immigration current list of tests?

Many thanks

Bruce Fitzgerald.

Unfortunately, even valid non-SELT IELTS is not acceptable anymore. She'll have to sit a SELT exam I'm afraid. Totally unnecessary, but that's how HO rolls.

Hi Echoes

Thanks so much for your reply. This has saved us from potentially have our ILR application rejected.

My wife has booked a new SELTS IELTS UKVI test.

I'd phoned the Home Office helpline so many times and they were unable to answer the question about the correct validity of the older IELTS certificates. Their guidance on this is also horribly confusing.

Many thanks for your help.

Regards

Bruce.
