Tier 2 extension from UK

My tier 2 was issued for 1 year and will expire in November. My employer wants me to find out how to get it extended now. Can someone please guide me through the procedure? I know RLMT is not needed. Can I apply for extension now? What documents would I need?

1. Get your emplyer to request new COS
2. Apply online application
3. Pay IHS
4: Pay Visa fees
5. Send application by post with documents mentioned in checklist ar the end of Application
6. Get biometric done
7. Wait for reply from HO
