Is it worth applying for a visitor visa or no?

Post by eandh0904 » Mon Feb 05, 2018 9:22 pm

Hi - thanks for your help. I'm new here!

I live in the US (female) and my husband lives in Morocco. We got married in November 2017, and applied for him to get a spousal visa to come to the US in December 2017. This process generally takes 12-14+ months, so we are in for a wait.

I would *love* to visit the London area with him. I know that I do not need a visitor visa, but he would. He says that there is no point in him applying for one, and it's just a waste of money, because he feels he would be turned down. He is not working in Morocco, he does not own property there. I would be paying for his visa application and his trip and I am fine with that.

I know that usually when Moroccans have to apply for a visa they have to prove why they would return to their own country. While our visa is in process so he needs to be there for that, we realize it is not strong proof on it's own. We only want to go to UK for a week or 10 days max. We would be glad to provide proof of return ticket, and I would likely go back to Morocco with him and stay for another week before returning to the US.

Also: under the part with the TB test, it says: you must be tested for tuberculosis (TB) if you want to come to the UK for more than 6 months from Morocco or Mauritania.

As we are not intending to come to the UK for more than 6 months (not even more than 10 days!) would he not need the TB test?

Without evidence of strong ties to his home country, your husband is unlikely to be granted a visitor visa even with your sponsorship.

A visitor doesn't require a TB certificate.

What is considered "family" - visitor visa application

On the visitor visa application, it asks if you have any relatives in the UK, specifically:

your spouse or civil partner's family

My spouse has aunts, uncles, cousins in the UK, but her mother/father/brother/sister are not in the UK.
Should I list all the extended family as being in the UK?

Later, where it asks about accommodations we will (hopefully) be staying with my wife's uncle at his home - so I listed his name/address, and at the end, I wanted to write how we will visit with my wife's family, but I mentioned they are extended family.
Should I list them all out?

Relationship to you: Spouse's Aunt, Spouses's Cousin, etc?
