Irish Citizenship Great-Grandparent

Post by harvie1982 » Sat Feb 17, 2018 11:28 am

Hi All,

looking for some advice - i understand Irish Citizenship can only be acquired using a Great Grandparent if my parent is registered on the FBR, which I doubt was the case.

My scenario is -

I have been living in Ireland since 2009, but have driving convictions which would probably end up in a decline for naturlisation.

I am married to an Irish Citizen (over one year) been together six.

My Great Grandfather was born in Dublin. My Grandmother was born in UK as was my father and of course myself.

Other than apply for naturlisation and hope my driving convictions are not taken on board which would be unlikely, or waiting to be married for three years. Is there any hope in investigating the Great grandparent route. Along with the rest (been in ireland since 09 and married to Irish) would this all even be considered?

thanks!
