Error on the British citizenship application form

Post by Patsan » Sat Feb 17, 2018 12:13 pm

Hi
I've successfully received my citizenship certificate a month ago. However the joy was short-lived.
When applying for the passport to the question enter your parents passport number, I checked my mom's passport and realized that I've entered my mother's DOB INCORRECTLY in the citizenship application form.
Im very worried ! Is that an unforgiven error? Do I call up to rectify the error? If so who should I contact? Would there be a charge?
Please help me...

For the passport application you do not need to give your parents' passport details (they are not British presumably) you are applying as a naturalised citizen. I do not think that getting your mother's DOB wrong on the naturalisation form will make any difference. But of course you can send them a letter explaining but that will not re-start the process, that mistake is not material.

Thanks so much for your reply. Appreciate your time and help

My parents are not British. So should I write the same DOB I wrote on the citizenship application form?

Would it affect if they visit UK in future?

Do I write to the passport office or the naturalization office explaining the error?
Please let me know
Thanks

Suggest you state the correct dob on the passport application and write to Home Office UKVI just advising them of the error.

Hi everyone.
I have the similar problem. I spelled my village of birth in one manner, and just found out that it should be spelled differently.
My question is, should I get my certificate and send it for correction?
Is this a MATERIAL mistake or not??

Any sugestion will be much appreciated.
Cheers.
