Standard Visitor Visa (for parents)

Post by saleemkhan1 » Tue Feb 20, 2018 8:17 pm

Hi dear,

I am a postgraduate student. I have been paid my whole tuition fee. I have my spouse here renting a two bedroom flat. I am very busy in my study plus being unwell from the last few weeks. My spouse has been very unwell and I want to invite my parents on standard visitor visa for at least 8 weeks to care my spouse. I have almost gathered all the documents for their visas. Can you please tell me how much money should I need to show in bank statement as I am sponsoring them. In addition, a list of documents if incase I am missing any document.

Thanks

Regards,
SK

The crucial documents are those showing your parent's ties to their home country, to convince the ECO that they won't overstay in the UK. Since the Immigration Rules were tightened considerably in 2012, it's become far more difficult for parents to succeed in a visitor visa application.

Are they employed?
Do they have strong family ties in their home country?
Do they own property?
Do they have income and/or savings?
Have they travelled outside of the home country on a visitor visa previously?
(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed information.
My father has been retired from government job and getting pension. My mother is a housewife.
Yes they have strong ties there. They got a big six bedroom house worth of around £50-55k plus have other properties as well. My elder brother and his family living with my parents in that house. They are very attached to my parent especially their one kid of four years old.
My father has savings but it shows some foreign transactions in his statements which were donated to me by a UK guy for charity. So we scare that can affect their visa applications.
Yes, My mum and dad have been just returned from a foreign country recently and they have been visited to Dubai and other country as well in the past.
I am sponsoring them as I have sufficient funds and also bank statement of my brother of around £15k. So we would be showing around £35k plus in our accounts. In addition , all the documents of my parents properties.
Thanks
