UK Standard Visitor Visa for my mother

Post by poodipe » Wed Feb 21, 2018 1:17 pm

Hi All

Thanks everyone for providing great support for all visa related matters. Really appreciate your time and effort.

I am a British Citizen (got it granted in 2016) living in UK. I am a self employed (IT Contractor) through my LTD company. I am planning to apply for Standard Visit Visa for my mother (single entry - 6 months). My father died in 2003 and my mother has no pension benefits. She is 60 years of age and has no monthly income and living in a rented accommodation near to my extended family. She has a bank account to which I religiously transfer money (not the same amount though) every month and sometimes a bulk transfer as well. She has a fixed deposit in her bank account on her name and has a plot of land on her name too. We very badly want her to visit us for at least 3-4 months this summer and I want to ensure there are no issues w.r.t visa documentation.

https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa/eligibility says that she must submit an evidence that she will leave the UK at the end of her visit and able to support herself. What are the supporting documents should I arrange to meet this criteria? I know every case if different but what are the options I have in my case?

Please can anyone help me with list of documents that I should arrange from my end and from her as well for her application if I want to sponsor for her trip? Is it fine if I send the scanned version of the above documents which my mother can take the printout of and submit?

I will be grateful if you can help me with the queries.

I have just made a post of supporting documents that can be submitted to lead to a succesful application. You can find the same here.

general-uk-immigration-forum/parents-vi ... 50672.html

For sponsor documents, I have sent the originals for submission but I have also seen few posts where scanned copies are also accepted.

Hi All

Apologies for late reply. It took long time for me to think and consolidate all documents to apply and then again took 3 weeks to get decision on visa- thanks to long weekends. Just a quick update. Today my mother got her visa approved. These are the supporting documents we applied along with her application (old format) for her scenario as stated in my initial post:
- Passport
- Detailed Cover Letter
- Application form
- Document checklist form
- 6 months bank statements: Explained all the gaps, major transactions and reasons of money deposits in cover letter; also please enclose Affidavit if you have received a large sum in form of debt repay (not applicable in my case)
- Fixed deposit certificate
- Fixed Deposit account statement
- Aadhaar card
- Father's death certificate
- Copy of land sale deed
- Income Certificate - because my mother undertakes some boutique works at home and make little income out of it, so a supporting document from MRO (issued at e-seva) as evidence of that income in her account

My Documents:
- Invitation letter
- Accountant letter
- 6 months payslips
- 6 months bank statements
- UK Passport copy
- UK Passport copy of my wife
- Council Tax bill
- House sale agreement copy

Try to be genuine and explain your circumstances very clearly and honestly in the cover letter and believe me it helps. They will understand. Hope this helps at least one other forum member with similar scenario of mine.
Regards
Surya
