Dependent Visa for Child with Main Visa Holder on ICT Tier 2

Post by kunall » Thu Feb 22, 2018 9:44 pm

Hi,

Mine is a peculiar case. I have an ICT Tier 2 visa for 3 years but my BRP expires in June. My current project may end in May but there are chances of renewal as well - no assurance on that. My wife was with me on a dependent visa.

We have had a baby in India. Now, I want to call my wife and baby here. I have a few questions regarding my scenario:

1. My BRP expires in June and if my project is extended, my company may send my BRP for renewal sometime in April I think. If that is the case, can I file for a dependent visa while my BRP card is being renewed? Or should I file for it before it is send for renewal?
2. If my BRP is not renewed beyond June (in case I do not get a new project I may shift back to India), can I bring my child on a dependent visa? Will they issue a BRP card for her? If the BRP card is not issued, will I have problem accessing healthcare services in UK?
3. If my project does not extend and I am not allowed to file for a dependent visa given the very short duration of BRP card validity, can I invite my child in a tourist visa? Point to note is that my wife will travel on a dependent visa with a BRP with same expiry date as mine.

I may have asked a few questions here :) Hope someone can help me out.

We are almost at the end of February and your BRP is due to expire in June this year. Given that it will take a while for the application to get processed (a month or two?), why not wait until you get an extension before applying for your daughter and wife to join you in the UK?

As the child has been born abroad, any visa granted to them (and eventual ILR if applicable) would be in line with the less-privileged parent (your wife).

Hi Secret Simon,

Thanks for your reply. I can wait, but I was just weighing my options to look at the possibility of meeting my wife and baby earlier.

Visitor Visa for Daughter

Post by kunall » Fri Mar 09, 2018 11:58 pm

Hi,

My BRP card is set to expire in June. But I will file an extension after that.

My wife was on a dependent visa and it has the same expiry date. However, my daughter was born in India. Is it possible to have my wife fly out on the dependent visa and my daughter on a visitor visa?
