ILR - claiming benefits with expired passport.

Post by MorningLightMountain » Mon Feb 26, 2018 1:16 pm

Hello.

I have indefinite leave to remain - granted to me in 2003. I have been in receipt of DLA for a few years now. Recently I have been told I will need to apply for PIP as DLA is ending. We called to apply for PIP and were sent a letter saying the DWP want to see my immigration documents. I do not have the new biometric residence permit. As I have not left nor needed to leave the UK for several years, I do not have a current passport. Will the DWP accept my expired passport with the ILR stamp in it as proof of my entitlement to benefits? At this point I cannot afford a new passport nor can I afford the cost of the biometric ID.

Thank you for any advice.

They certainly should do.

Thank you for the reply, Casa.

I sure hope they do. I've seen posts elsewhere online where they have not done so.
