Blogging on a Stamp 3 Visa

Post by ExpatSarahS » Mon Feb 26, 2018 2:33 pm

Hey all, I am an American living in Dublin. I have a stamp 3 visa so I currently do not have the right to work in Dublin. My husband has a critical skills stamp 4 permit. Our previous lawyer told me I can look for a job and my employer will have to fill out a work permit application for me to get the right to work.

Anyways, that’s taking longer than expected and I really need an outlet to develop my skills. I used to blog on America casually (for fun, no profit) and have decided to return to that more seriously. I’d like to develop my content marketing and digital marketing skills using my blog. This would benefit me because I would have progress to show at interviews, instead of saying I’ve been doing nothing for six months. I am not looking at doing this to replace getting a legit job - I am still job searching daily - and I do not expect this to gain any revenue.

My question is - if it comes to the day, where my blog gains enough traction to start earning a profit, must I reject all offers because of my current stamp? Is there a way to enter self employment or free lancing? Can I apply for something else if my husband has a stamp 4 Permit?
