Referees for MN1 Application

Post by urashid81 » Mon Feb 26, 2018 9:03 pm

Hi everyone,

I have been in UK on Tier 2(General) visa for past 5 years and just got my ILR. My son was born in UK 2 years ago and I am going to apply for his citizenship.

In MN1 guide, it is mentioned that the application needs to be endorsed by 2 referees and:

"One referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion. The other referee must normally be the holder of a British citizen passport.
Each referee should know the child personally and must not be:
.related to the child
. related to the other referee
. acting as a solicitor or agent in connection with this application
. employed by the Home Office"

I contacted my child's health visitor and she said she was not authorized to give reference for MN1 application. I contacted the local surgery's manager and she said she would get back to me in the next few days.

I want to know if it would be acceptable to get a reference from my GP or practice manager of the local surgery? My son doesn't attend any nursery, so it is not possible to get a reference from any teacher or social worker.

Thanks in advance.
