Irish Citizen and Spouse is Visa Required National.

Post by LavaniyaEra » Tue Feb 27, 2018 10:59 am

Hi All,

I've learnt a lot by reading all the posts. Still I have few concerns hence I decided to post my question.
I have obtained an Irish passport as I was born in island of Ireland (Belfast) before 2005. My parents are Sri Lankans and I grew up in Sri Lanka and currently working in middle east with my spouse. I lived in Belfast as an infant only.
Now I'm planning to move to Ireland with my Spouse. I'm confused about the financial requirements. I have to show 40k Euro in income 3 years prior to my application.I don't have that much since 18 months out of 36 months I worked in Sri Lanka and the currency is weak and doesn't hole much value when you convert. I can use some of my savings and joint savings with my husband but I don't have an idea how much it should be.

So i thought of trying the Surinder Singh route.I understand I can come to Belfast. Does my husband need a visa even if he is accompanied by me? Or I can just show our marriage certificate and enter?

We both are professionals. He is an electrical engineer with experiences in System used in UK and Ireland. I'm a management account with CIMA(UK) qualification. We both believe we should be able to secure a job.
I believe we can apply for the residence permit with a job. And after a while is it possible for me to move to Ireland with my husband using Surinder Singh route? I would love to settle down in Ireland compared to UK. And will brexit be a problem in obtaining residence card?

Thank you all.
